The DSA E2800 represents the next generation of the Bosch DSA E‑Series, iSCSI-based digital video disk arrays. These are state-of-the-art platforms designed for the security industry's most demanding digital video storage applications that aim to manage the incessant increase in digital data.

System Description
The DSA E2800 is based on a 2U controller unit with 12 internal 3.5-inch 7.2K Enterprise NL-SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) hard drives (Nearline SAS).
The controller unit is available in a standard single controller configuration and a dual controller configuration for high availability requirements.
This storage system is a high-performance solution designed with flexibility to adapt to a wide range of video surveillance requirements. Its balanced performance is designed to support high bandwidth and I/O for demanding workloads.
The DSA E2800's fully redundant I/O paths, advanced protection features, and extensive diagnostic capabilities offer high levels of availability, integrity, and security.
Functions
The DSA E2800 is the E2800 series co-marketed with NetApp. It is a horizontally scalable network storage solution that offers security, the highest out-of-the-box scalability, the peace of mind of good data protection, and simplified management of all video data.
The DSA E2800 solution, in single or dual controller configuration, allows up to seven 12-bay expansion units (12 hard drives per expansion unit) to be connected to a single or dual controller base unit.
It is a protected disk array with full hardware RAID/DDP features that provides RAID‑5 protection for environments requiring capacity and RAID‑6/DDP for environments requiring availability.
High Reliability and Availability
The DSA E2800 keeps your data safe and available with redundant hot-swappable power supplies and fans, plus protection against dual disk failure and individual bit errors during rebuilds with high-performance RAID‑6 or DDP.
Its redundant components, automated path failover, and online management ensure uninterrupted productivity.
Other high availability features include:
- Automatic detection and recovery from drive failures and reconstruction using global spare hard drives
- Data caching with battery backup and data transfer to a flash device
- SANtricity, which proactively monitors unit health and identifies issues before complications arise
Control
Includes full SNMP support with MIB-II and custom NetApp MIB. If a component fails, email notifications will be generated by the SNMP protocol. In addition, an event monitor is available to send alert notifications to a centralized event log.
If the device is connected to the Internet/Intranet, automatically generated AutoSupport messages can be sent, helping to prevent problems before they occur.
Management
NetApp SANtricity storage management software combines robustness with ease of use.
With its dynamic capacity, SANtricity software supports on-the-fly expansion, reconfiguration, and maintenance without interrupting storage system I/O.

Bosch provides the necessary software tools for initial storage configuration in a video surveillance environment. Additionally, the system provides web-based configuration and a powerful Command Line Interface (CLI) that can be accessed remotely via SSH (secure shell).
In dual controller systems, iSCSI ports with the same number are connected to each other for redundancy, with one of the ports acting as a backup path for an iSCSI port on the other controller.
